How To Set Up Google Merchant Center

Google Merchant Center is a tool which helps you to upload your product listings for use with Google Shopping, Google Product Ads, and Google Commerce Search.

So, if someone searches for a product on Google Shopping, items listed here will have been uploaded to Google Merchant Center.

Please note that in order to advertise your products on Google Shopping, you will need to book Product Listing Ads with Google. This a paid for service powered by Google Adwords where you will pay per click when advertising your products on Google Shopping.

Getting Started

In order to use Google Merchant Center you must first sign up for an account with Google. If you already have an account with Google (like Gmail), visit google.com/merchants and sign in to get started.

If you do not already have a Google account, visit google.com/merchants and click 'Get started'. You will be prompted to enter a sign in email and password, as well as the following information, to create a Google Merchant Center account.

How to set up your Create account with Google Merchant Center

With Create, you will be able to upload a feed of your products to Google Merchant Center to start listing them.

  1. You will first need to make sure your products comply with Google Merchant Center's specifications. You can find out what you need to do, on this guide about product specifications here.
  2. Then, you will be able to upload your feed to your Google Merchant account by following the steps in our guide here.
  3. Once you have successfully uploaded your products, you will then need to set up your Product Listing Ads. You can see how to do this on Google's Retail page here.

Once all this is set up, you are ready to start advertising your Create products Google Shopping Results.

Please be aware.

Due to the way Google submits product variant data, if you have product options on any of your products, these will not be included in the feed you download from your Create account. If you wish to list these products on Google Shopping, you will need to set up each variable as an individual product in your Create account.

Due to the way our system is configured, handcrafted items and those without an identifier will need to be manually updated to Google Merchant Center and not through our integration.
