A thumbnail image is a small version of a larger image that is used to represent the larger image. It is typically used in places where space is limited, such as in a gallery, product category or anywhere else on a website where many images need to be displayed at once.

Thumbnails are smaller in size and resolution than the original image. They are only there to offer a rough idea of the content and are often used as a way to preview or navigate to the larger, full-resolution image and more information about the subject.
