Transferring a .com domain name

If you own a domain name hosted by another company and you wish to move it from one Registrar to another, this is known as a transfer. Transferring a domain name follows a process which can depend on the domain name itself and can either be free or include a cost depending on the Registrar.

Before transferring your domain name it’s also worth checking with your Registrar what effect this will have on any email settings you have with it.

When transferring non-.uk domains, there is a £10.99 +VAT charge for this charged by our registrar to transfer the domain name into our account. This will also renew your domain for an additional year free of charge.

Please note that any domain names registered or renewed within the last 60 days will not be legible for transfer, so it is always good to check with your current provider prior to initiating a transfer with us.

You will also need to contact your current registrar to ask them to do the following:

  1. Unlock the domain name and supply you with an "Authorisation Code" for the domain name.
  2. Once we have initiated the transfer for your domain name the admin contact on your domain name will receive an email from our registrar asking them to confirm the transfer request before we can move the domain name.
*Please note: If you have an existing email set up with your domain name then this will be affected when your Name Servers are changed. If you do not want your email to be affected then please let us know more details about what type of email service you have set up and we will look to advise you on your options for moving your domain name.

If you would like to go ahead with the transfer then please get in touch with your Account Manager who will set up the payment in your account.
