Transferring a .com domain name

If you own a domain name hosted by another company and you wish to move it from one registrar to another, this is known as a transfer. Transferring a domain name follows a process which can depend on the domain name itself and can either be free or include a cost depending on the registrar.

When transferring non-.uk domains, there is a £10.99 +VAT charge, this is what we are charged by our registrar, however this will also renew your domain for an additional year.

Please note: Any domain names registered or renewed within the last 60 days will not be legible for transfer, so it is always good to check with your current provider prior to initiating a transfer with us.

You will also need to contact your current registrar to ask them to unlock the domain name and provide you with the Authorisation Code. If you then let us know when you have this, we can take the payment and initiate the transfer.

Once initiated, you'll receive an email from our registrar asking your to confirm the transfer yourself.

Please note: If you have an existing email set up with your domain name then this will be affected when your Name Servers are changed. If you do not want your email to be affected then please let us know more details about what type of email service you have set up and we will look to advise you on your options for moving your domain name.
