This quick guide will explain all you need to know on taking screen-shots on a number of different devices.

A screen shot is an image produced of the current page you are viewing and can then be exported to send or upload elsewhere. This is particularly useful if you suspect you're having a slight issue with your website and need to show someone exactly what is going wrong.

Firstly, select the type of operating system you are using below:

Windows/PC

Mac

iPhone/iPad/iPod

To take a screen shot using a Windows PC, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the page you wish to take a screen shot of.
  2. Find the Print Screen button on your keyboard. The Print Screen button is usually situated on the top right hand side of your keyboard and should read "PrtScn", or something relatively similar. Press this button down once.
  3. You will now need to navigate to a piece of image editing software. As you are using Windows, you can use "Paint". To find "Paint, click the "Start" button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen and select "All Programs" .
  4. You should then see "Paint" under "Accessories". Alternatively, search for "Paint" using the "Search" facility on your computer.
  5. Once you have opened "Paint", paste your screen shot in to the program using CTRL and V buttons.
  6. You should now be able to save your screen shot as an image by clicking "File" in the top left-hand corner of "Paint" and selecting "Save As".

To take a screen shot using a Mac computer, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the page you wish to take a screen shot of.
  2. Hold down the "Command" and "Shift" button, followed by the number "3" button. This should take a screen shot of your page and store an image file of your screen shot on your Desktop.

Alternatively, if you wish to take a screen shot of a specific area of your screen/page, you can do so by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the page you wish to take a screen shot of.
  2. Hold down the "Command" and "Shift" button, followed by the number "4" button. Use your mouse to draw a rectangle in order to specify what to capture. This should take a screen shot of your page and store an image file of your screen shot on your Desktop.

To take a screen shot using a iPhone/iPad/iPod, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the page you wish to take a screen shot of.
  2. Hold down the button on the top of your device (the button you use to fully shut down your device) and then press the main round button on the front of the device.
  3. This will generate an image that should now appear in your camera roll. You can access this by selecting "Photos" and then "Camera Roll".
