How do I add a SoundCloud track on my website?

SoundCloud is a great online tool for uploading, recording, promoting and sharing your own sounds. You can use their service to share a unique URL for your track, and you can embed their audio player on to your Create website.

You can find out more about SoundCloud's services on their website here.

If you wish to include a SoundCloud track on your website then you can use the Create SoundCloud widget.

To add this on your site, please follow the steps below:

  1. Log into your Create account
  2. Click "Content" from the Top Menu.
  3. Select "Widgets" from the left-hand menu.
  4. Click the "Add New Widget" button.
  5. Select the "SoundCloud" option from the list of widgets displayed.
  6. Next, give your widget a name and apply the SoundCloud "Permalink".  You can find your file's "Permalink" by going in to your SoundCloud account and clicking the small pencil icon next to your track. You should then see the "Permalink" displayed under the track title.
  7. Choose your Widgets characteristics, such as the Widget colour, whether you'd like the track to play automatically, and whether or not you wish to show the track's artwork.
  8. Click "Save Changes".

This is what the icon looks like to get your Permalink from your SoundCloud account.

This is the widget settings you can configure from your Create account.

You can then add your SoundCloud widget on to your website by following the steps below:

  1. Log into your Create account

  2. Click Content on the top menu

  3. Click Edit This Page (the pencil icon) next to the page you would like to edit

  4. Click the Add Block button in the bottom left-hand corner

  5. From the drop-down menu, select Custom

6. You can then drag and drop the Custom Element content block onto the desired place on the page.

Once the Custom Element block has been added to the page, you can click the + icon and use the drop-down menu to select what content you would like to add to the page.

You’ll see you can select content including Widgets, HTML Fragments and Custom Forms, as well as combinations of other blocks such as Buttons, Headers, Images, Videos, Maps and Text.

A placeholder icon will be added to the page and if you click the Settings icon, you can specify exactly which widget or HTML fragment for example, that you would like to use. Click Done and then save your changes.

The SoundCloud widget is 'responsive', therefore it will resize on any screen size! Perfect for mobile viewers.
