Why are my personal details showing on my domain name Whois?

For any domain that you purchase, there are certain aspects of the information you provide that can be seen on the public Whois database

For .uk domains

If you plan to use your domain name for your business or any type of trade (this includes the registration of domain names for monetisation purposes, e.g. pay per click advertising etc) or professional transactions, you will not be entitled to opt out of having your address displayed. This information must displayed on the domain name "Whois" records for any business.

This is outlined below by Nominet:

For .com domains

With .com domains, you are able to hide the information from the Whois database. This does have a small fee associated with it, so please contact your Account Manager for more information.
