Keeping your website looking new and fresh is a great way to keep your customers interested. It shows that you’re active, adds credibility and gives people a reason to want to come back to your website - what’s changed since I’ve last visited?
It also plays an important role for your SEO, as search engines consider websites that have the most recent content to be the most relevant options to show. Try to think of a search engine as another visitor to your site; keeping everything refreshed and relevant will keep them just as happy as your actual customers.
To help you renew your website, we’ve come up with a four ways you can keep your website fresh and relevant.
Show off your newest products
If you have new products, where better to show them off than your homepage? Your homepage is the first place you visitors will land, so keeping the newest items closer to the top will draw the attention straight to them.
Even if you don’t have any new products to add, try mixing up the products that you feature on your homepage so every time a customer visits your website they will see a whole new range of products to choose from.
Make sure your latest blog post is easily accessible
Having a blog on your website is a great way to keep your customers up-to-date. Whether you’re giving advice about your area of expertise or just announcing that you have updated your website, it’s important that your customers are able to find your most recent post first.
Having your blog on your main menu is a great way to ensure your customers can see it across all the pages of your website - but why not have a section on your homepage that directs your customers straight to your blog as well?
Keep your 'Above the Fold' Fresh
The ‘Above the Fold’ area of your website is what appears when a visitor first lands on your website - what do they see before the scroll down your homepage or click on one of your links? Renewing this area of your site frequently will keep your customers interested and engaged.
If you’re running a sale, make sure you shout about it straight away when your visitors appear on your website. If you’ve got new products, direct them to your shop and show them what they will be able to find there. Whatever it may be, it needs to draw potential customers in straight away.
Keep your Logo interesting
Your logo sits at the top of your website and is the one image that appears consistently across your whole site - which makes it an excellent opportunity to grab your visitors’ attention. Although you might not want to make drastic changes to it, since it’s an important part of your branding, there are many ways that you can make subtle and playful changes.
Why not mix things up by adding to your logo based on the season - maybe add something Christmas themed in December or Halloween themed in October? It will keep your branding consistent whilst also adding a unique flare to your website.
