Create Events LogoWell, we held our first ever event at Create HQ last night and it was everything we could have hoped it could be, but even more fun!

Curtis James (Stanley James Press / People Who Do) and Emily Stanley (Stanley James Press) came along to our recently prettified Brighton office to talk to guests from the local business and tech communities about collecting and collections.

With a portable turntable and photo slideshow in hand, the two talked us through their inspiring life journeys and how collecting things (vinyl records, Cold War memorabilia, cameras, and letterpress equipment) had made such an impact on them. This was followed by a vibrant Q&A session which soon became a fun discussion on the place of the physical collection in the digital world.

Shortly afterwards, a sheet was pulled from atop a strange shape in the corner, and the guests got a chance to make, do and play. The letterpress machine (pictured above left) enabled us print our own Create postcards, the Kaleidoloop (pictured below right, and by the way, I WANT) allowed us to twist, bend and distort our voices, and a variety of fun cameras were handed out to guests to record the event in their own way.

We'd like to thank Curtis and Emily for delivering such an interesting and interactive talk, and also the many guests that came along to sample our office, our company, our nibbles and our chatter.

This is just the first of many planned events held to entertain, inspire and connect the varied business communities in Brighton. You can find out more about Create Events at our Eventbrite profile page. We hope to see you at a Create Event in the future!
