Optimising Your Images for the Web

Tags: design tips. design, image optimisation, optimising, images, photos, photoshop, pixlr, getting started

Great, beautiful and high quality images are vital for any website. So what is image optimisation?
Lets consider an example. Digital photographs are very big, high quality images so that you can have them printed and hang them on your wall. It's a different story when it comes to the internet. You are not looking for maximum quality, rather, you are looking for the maximum quality that is needed.
Increase the "Line Spacing" On Paragraphs
Posted by Ben on Tuesday Feb 15 09:55 2011
Tags: design tips, design, content, layout, getting started

Paragraphs tend to look a little squished. Remember your college years? You wouldn't hand in some work without increasing the line spacing would you?
Visitors are not obliged to sit and struggle reading your text, so make sure you get it right!
Change the “line height” to create a little extra space between lines of text to make big blocks of text look a little lighter and easier to read.

To add a gift-wrapping option to your products, simply follow the steps below:
Keep Your Website Width Consistent
Posted by Ben on Friday Feb 4 10:53 2011
Tags: design tips, design, content, layout, getting started

Stick to the default width that your chosen template provides. This will usually be the same width as your header image (1000px or 780px).
Our templates are designed to stretch in case you add an image or a table that is wider than your page, but that doesn't mean you should allow your pages to stretch.
Make Your Text More Appealing!

Tags: design tips, design, content, layout, getting started

Break up large blocks of text into small paragraphs to make pages easier and more pleasant to read.
Nobody wants to read an essay. If you want to get and maintain your visitors' attention, make text simple, quick, clear and as succinct as possible.
Add high quality images to your paragraphs, aligned to the left or right to liven things up.
